Der water filter from FlowLife

The lifelong tap water solution for pure, tasty water according to the cradle-to-cradle principle

Basic features, design and installation

  • The FlowLife filter is a 3-media water filter system that combines all the advantages of existing adsorption and absorption filters without their disadvantages. It supplies households or buildings with vital and healthy drinking water on a permanent basis. The filter is replaced every three years in line with the cradle-to-cradle system, with a reminder service. Replacement takes just a few minutes and all you need is a 19 mm open-end spanner.

  • Thanks to standardised 1-inch connections, you can install the filter quickly and easily in the cold water inlet pipe or under the sink with 3/8″ reducing nipples. With a flow rate of 300 to 600 litres per hour at a pressure of 2.5 to 4 bar, there is only a minimal pressure loss. No binding agents are used. The materials remain stable and cracks or ruptures are ruled out.

  • The water treatment system combines high-quality materials and innovative technologies to efficiently purify, revitalise and stabilise the water.

  • Inside the robust stainless steel flask there is a pre-filter and a main filter.

The pre-filter

  • Zeolite: breaks down inorganic contaminants and absorbs heavy metals, ammonia, nitrate, turbidity, odours and dioxins; reduces the bacterial count in the filtered water; ideal for drinking water purification.

  • Birm®: utilises the catalytic properties of manganese to reduce the iron content in water.

  • Activated carbon: absorbs particles dissolved in water thanks to its large inner surface area; removes ozone and chlorine using oxidising agents.

The main filter

  • The stainless steel helix creates a strong turbulence in the water, which increases the contact surface with the activated carbon. This improves the cleaning performance and increases the effectiveness of the filtration.

  • The permanent magnet enclosed in the stainless steel housing changes the structure of the calcifying agents. Instead of calcite, which forms stubborn deposits, aragonite is produced, which is easier to remove and protects household appliances. This reduces limescale deposits and protects the system without the magnet coming into direct contact with the water.

  • This specially woven activated carbon is up to 100 times more effective than conventional activated carbon. It offers extremely high adsorption and desorption, even at high flow rates. Pollutants such as chlorine, ozone, chlorinated hydrocarbons, pesticides, drug residues, solvents, suspended solids and turbidity are effectively removed.

  • The silver mesh has an oligodynamic, sterilising effect that deactivates germs in the water. Despite this high level of effectiveness, silver is not detectable in the treated water.

  • The gemstones rock crystal, amethyst and rose quartz stabilise and revitalise the water in a natural way. The turbulence and contact with the minerals energises the water, which shows a significantly higher water quality in sensory tests compared to untreated water.

  • This intelligent combination of stainless steel, activated carbon, silver, gemstones and magnets not only purifies the water of harmful substances, but also energises it and keeps it germ-free.

When you buy a FlowLife filter, a tree is planted as part of a reforestation project with carbon-connect.

Frequently asked questions about the water filter by FlowLife

Why do I actually need a water filter?

A water filter ensures that tap water is a healthy option for your most important foodstuff. It removes substances that are often neglected in official controls because they have no limit values but can still be harmful to health. Pollutants such as lead or copper, which should not actually be present in water, can also be significantly reduced by a filter. Even substances that comply with the permitted limits are often present in undesirable concentrations. A high-quality filter system protects your health and ensures greater vitality by minimising exposure to pollutants. Without a filter, your body takes over this task, which can lead to long-term health problems. A water filter is therefore a sensible investment to remove impurities from your drinking water.

Tap water versus bottled water

The question of drinking water quality is judged differently. Opinions also differ as to whether tap water or bottled water is the ‘better and safer water’. It also depends very much on which part of the world you live in and how you enjoy your own local water.

Where there are regulations and limits for tap and bottled water, these rules ensure ‘relative safety’, but only relative. Each limit value means that it is not an absolute value. In addition, these limit values are set by someone on the basis of some kind of foundation. The arbitrariness of the limit values becomes very apparent when they are suddenly changed.

However, it is undisputed that agricultural practices, the use of medicines and industrial activities are causing more and more pollutants to enter drinking water. Waterworks are often unable to filter these out completely.

Domestic water pipes also contribute to contamination. Old pipes or damaged seals can release heavy metals such as lead. In addition, germs and bacteria can thrive in underutilised pipes and impair water quality.

Mineral water is seen by many as an alternative, often for reasons of taste or mistrust of tap water. However, controls on mineral water fountains are less frequent and there are fewer limits than for tap water. Studies have shown that many mineral waters contain elevated levels of boron, uranium or endocrine disruptors from plastic bottles.

In ecological terms, tap water is clearly superior to bottled water as it does not require any transport or packaging.

To summarise, tap water and bottled water are officially considered safe to drink, but are not necessarily healthy. The use of a high-quality water filter can significantly reduce exposure to pollutants, even those without specified limits. Such a filter helps to make drinking water safer and healthier.

Diameter: 65 mm

Length: 210 mm

Connections: 3/8’

Flow rate 300-600 l/h at 2.5-4 bar.

Weight: 1.5 kg

Only high-quality and approved materials are used, which are confirmed by certificates: V4A, activated carbon, sterling silver.

No plastic or synthetic materials are used in the manufacture of the FlowLife filter.

What happens to the used filter?

FlowLife sends the filter back to the manufacturer, the housing is checked, the filter is regenerated and can be reused. No waste is produced.

Does the FlowLife filter also extract minerals and mineral substances?

All important minerals, which also influence the flavour of the water, are retained in the water. The water filter only changes the limescale structure from calcite to aragonite, which leads to a significant reduction in limescale deposits. These deposits are also easier to remove.

Are chemicals or silver used in the FlowLife filter?

No chemicals are used. Only natural products are used as filter media. Silver is only used as a consumable in solid, bound form.

Can the FlowLife filter become contaminated and what role does silver play in this?

Thanks to the use of sterling-quality silver threads, the FlowLife filter is practically germ-free. Silver has a strong antibacterial effect: it inhibits the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi and can even kill them in very small quantities. However, silver only has this effect in the form of silver ions, which attach themselves to the cell walls of the microorganisms, disrupt their metabolism and prevent cell division. This is why silver is often used to disinfect and preserve water and is found in products such as drinking water sterilisation tablets and swimming pool care products.

Why are FlowLife filters particularly environmentally friendly and affordable?

In contrast to most conventional water filters, the manufacturer of FlowLife filters uses 99.9% no synthetic materials, plastic or aluminium. The materials used are completely environmentally friendly and recyclable. In order to close the ecological cycle, the manufacturer disposes of the used filters and filter materials through a specialised company that guarantees environmentally friendly processing.

As no plastics are used in production and disposal, no environmentally harmful degradation products such as microplastics (landfill) or dioxins (incineration) are produced. Although FlowLife filters are initially more expensive than conventional plastic filters due to the use of stainless steel, the price is relativised by the long service life, high performance and environmental friendliness. Although stainless steel is more expensive to manufacture and more difficult to process, it offers an almost unlimited service life.

Stainless steel is more expensive and more difficult to process than plastic. However, its service life is ‘almost infinite’!

Conventional water filter systems produce at least around 150 g of plastic waste to remove 100 mg of microplastics from drinking water. In other figures, this means that the vast majority of filter systems first filter out microplastics and then, when disposed of, produce at least 1500 times as much plastic waste.

In terms of performance, service life and environmental considerations, the price is put into perspective and the FlowLife filter becomes one of the most powerful, affordable and environmentally friendly drinking water filters on the market.
